DOH’s Guidance for Sports and Fitness Activities classify Indoor basketball and wrestling as high-risk sports and require screening testing of unvaccinated individuals in order to participate. Cheer is high aerosol-generating activity and requires screening testing of unvaccinated individuals in order to participate.
Screening Testing for Sporting Activities specifically basketball, wrestling, and cheer
• To ensure safe participation in athletics, schools must institute screening testing. Protocols and provide testing for unvaccinated athletes in high-risk indoor sports.
• Screening testing is required for all unvaccinated athletes in high-risk indoor sports. Screening testing of unvaccinated participants must be performed twice weekly using a molecular or antigen test.
Fully vaccinated athletes do not have to participate in screening testing.
