Advanced Placement Courses

College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college level courses that require much more rigor than general high school courses. Students enrolled in AP courses may qualify to earn college credit. A variety of AP courses are offered at Clarkston High School. AP exams are offered at Clarkston High School in the spring - there is a fee for an AP exam. (Costs can fluctuate year to year -especially the reduced rate AP exam fee.) With qualifying AP exam scores, students may be able to earn credit, advanced placement, or both at the majority of colleges and universities in the US and over 60 countries outside of the US.

Individual colleges and universities, not the College Board or the AP Program, grant course credit and placement. Students should obtain a college's AP policy in writing. Students can usually find this information through the institution directly or by using the AP Credit Policy Info search at

AP Classes are listed on transcripts as dual credit through LCSC.  Credits can be purchased but it is optional.  College Board AP courses available at Clarkston High School (see the CHS Registration and Planning Guide for course descriptions):
